Buying hair care products can be a daunting task especially if you are not familiar with the brand or do not know anyone that has ever tried the product before. Our Brand Ambassadors test new products and post their reviews for others in our community to see. They also represent the Exotic Hair Product brand and help educate others about what we do. We sat down with one of our Brand Ambassadors, Bethany, to get to know about her and her hair journey and have her share her thoughts with us.
EHP: Tell us a little bit about yourself and some of the things you like to do. What are some of your favorite past times?
BJ: My name is Bethany James. My stage/modeling name is Cassonade Poetess. I am a business woman. I am very driven. One word that describes my personality is approachable. I love to do modeling. I am a curvy/plus size model. I love to do poetry and some of my favorite past times are working with other models through mentorship or trying to build my network/brand. Another major accomplishment is I self published my first eBook on February 2016. It was called The Big Game by Bethany James.
EHP:Is your hair natural/relaxed? What are some hair challenges you face?
BJ: My hair right now is relaxed because I am transitioning from perming. My hair has no chemicals. My hair challenges are coloring, thinning, and brittle ends. Also, I have dry hair.
EHP: What is your typical hair care routine?
BJ: My typical hair care routine is Shampoo, Wash, and Blow Dry. Once a week at least. I love protective styles and doing edgy styles like a Mohawk. Since I am transitioning my hair I try to use natural products to achieve the everyday styles I want.
EHP: So you are a fashion model. Tell us about your modeling work and how you got into modeling?
BJ: I got into Fashion Modeling (my passion) about 2 years ago in my 20s. However, I was discovered at 16. I was in a strip mall in Denver, CO called 16th street mall. I was scouted by Access World Talent. Currently, I am a full figured model. I have overcome many obstacles in the modeling industry. I have had 5 photoshoots. Also, I am a brand ambassador for a few companies. My favorite is Exotic Hair Products. I am currently an independent contractor for two companies in the Florida area. Finally, I am currently working on my own modeling movement business!
EHP: If you had any hair advice for women, what would that be?
BJ: My hair advice for women is to do the basic things. Not everybody knows how to care for their hair. Secondly, not everybody knows how to style the hair. It is good to both care and style the hair. Also, it is good to have a beautician if, you , like me do not know everything about hair maintenance.
EHP: Finally, tell us one inspirational quote or phrase that you live by and would recommend for every woman.
BJ: I really have two favorites. The late great Maya Angelou said a quote all women should live by..."When people show you who they are, believe them the first time."
